Lloret de mar

The enormously popular Costa Brava offers you the best of both worlds – the beach and nightlife of Lloret de Mar, combined with the sights and the sounds of Barcelona. This is our favourite student destination for tours throughout the year, as well as for the annual SportsParty festival.

Accommodation

We use a number of 3 star hotels in Lloret de Mar such as the Don Juan and Flamingo, all just a short walk from the multitude of bars and clubs. Most of the bedrooms are for 3 sharing, with private bathroom and balcony. Most groups stay on half board basis with food, buffet style, in the hotel restaurants. All the hotels have an outdoor swimming pool; bar; TV room and usually evening entertainments in high season

Features

The busy town of Lloret de Mar is one of the major tourist centres on the Spanish Mediterranean coastline. As a “vila esportiva” (sports town), there are excellent local facilities and both Girona and Barcelona are an easy transfer from the resort.

Sports

Football
Football friendlies are organised in the city and surrounding villages on a selection of clay, artificial and grass pitches with local English speaking representation on hand at the games.
There’s an excellent new generation artificial turf field in walking distance from your hotel for training or a game amongst yourselves. We can organise match tickets for Barcelona at the Nou Camp in season.

Hockey
There are superb clubs in Barcelona and nearby Terrassa. Great facilities and strong competition make this a great choice for university teams.

Swimming & water polo
There’s a splendid new Olympic pool in Calella on the coast, while there are superb facilities at Montjuic with both 25 metre and 50 metre pools available for training. Water polo fixtures can also be organised against competitive local clubs and there’s an ideal facility in Girona.

Rugby
There are rugby opportunities in Barcelona and Girona. Further possibilities can also be considered over the border into France where Perpignan is only 2 hours on the coach.

Other Sports
Basketball, volleyball and tennis fixtures are also possible on request.

Other Information

Excursion Possibilities
Most groups choose an excursion into Barcelona during the tour. Here, you can enjoy a visit to the Nou Camp stadium for a guided tour or perhaps see a match in season. Other highlights include the bars and shops along the famous Ramblas avenue.

Travel

Lloret de Mar is approximately 16 hours by coach from Calais. Flight are widely available from around the UK, with transfers from Girona (35 minutes) and Barcelona (90 minutes) organised for your arrival.
